With the Smart Battery Technology available in the latest
compaq r3000 battery products, you can automatically test the status of your battery.
Equipped with a microchip, Smart Batteries maintain and report their own status, thus providing users with accurate information, whether they use different batteries in the same notebook or the
same battery in different notebooks.
Automatically test your battery status
Use the following steps to download, install and use the HP
Presario X6000 Check. This utility is supported on all HP Notebook PCs manufactured in 2006 and most
systems in 2005.
1.Download the HP Battery Check (SP41862) then select Run and follow the directions on your screen.
2.Insert the AC power adapter into the notebook PC and plug directly into a wall outlet.
3.Click Start, All Programs, then click Hewlett-Packard, HP Battery Check.
The results of the Battery test will be presented immediately. Detailed instructions are provided with the results.

Note: If a warning message is displayed stating "This system is not supported by the HP Battery Check tool" during the installation, your system may not be supported by the battery status test

Manually test your battery status
Follow these easy methods to manually test your battery if it is not equipped with the Smart Battery technology.
Measure the duration of your battery's discharge cycle
1.Connect your AC power adapter and completely charge the notebook

2.Restart the computer in Windows Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key when the HP or Compaq logo appears. Select Safe Mode from the Startup Menu by using the arrow keys
3.When Safe Mode appears, disconnect the AC power adapter from the notebook
4.With a timer, measure the total length of time that the notebook is running until the notebook turns itself off
